What Google Authorship?
While the Google algorithm was based so far on the contents of the site and links to it, Google now introduced the notion of authorship "recognized".
Benefits for authors identified:
- More visibility for publications in the results of Google (photo)
- More credibility for publications (author clearly identified)
- Better SEO content (probable but it's too early to tell ...)
disadvantages:
- Obligation to use the social network Google+
- Obligation to publish under his "real" name rather than under a nickname (eg amaranth) or a mark, sign, society
- The system clearly favors the blogs of writers at the expense of corporate sites.
Step 1: mention his blog on his Google+ profile
1) Create a Google account if you do not have one yet
2) Create a personal profile on Google+, with a picture where you (= the blog author) are clearly recognizable.
3) Fill in the blog address in "Profile" under the "Bio" tab, in "Also author of ...". This confirms the author said on the blog (step 2).
Step 2: mention his Google+ profile on his blog
Insert a link to your Google+ profile on each blog page (or in each article you are the author).
Either in the <head>
Make a simple HTML link to the Google+ profile of the author by mentioning his name.
Check if Google has registered the connection between blog and profile
Enter the address of your blog on the test tool structured data (rich snippets or extracts enriched) of webmaster tools. If the data does not appear, check the two steps above.
If your data appear, allow 3-5 days for your portrait appear in the Google results, as the author of the articles in your blog.
