Where to start? Why would I? How much time and effort does it represent? Do not worry! This article will guide you step by step to setting up your own Facebook page. Ready to go?
1 - Create a busniess Facebook page
The first step is to open a new web page so that you can go to the Create a Facebook page.
You must first select the type of page you want to set up:
Location or local commerce (busniess premises or site)
Busniess, organization or association (Company, organization, institution or)
Brand or Product (Brand or product)
Artist, group or public figure (Artist, band, or public figure)
Entertainment (Entertainment)
Cause or Community (Cause of community)
When you choose one of the options, a drop down menu will appear including other types of more specific categories. Choose the one that best suits your busniess or your website and enter the name of your company. Check the "I accept the terms applicable to Facebook Pages" and click "Start".
2 - Complete your basic information
Download (or rather upload) profile photo to serve as the main image that will represent your busniess best (usually the logo of your company). You will then have to fill in the "About" to describe your services and to enter a web address to your website if you have one.
Facebook will then suggest to love (Like) your own page and invite your friends to it. I suggest you do not perform these steps immediately since you do not want your friends to access a page that is now almost empty.
At this point, your page should look like this:
Start Facebook Page
3. Fill your page
Click the top button "Edit Page -> Update info" (in English: Edit Info) to achieve an administration section that contains several fields to fill. Add the information you feel is relevant to your company or site such as hours of operation, address, email address, a description of your products and services, etc. The box "Description" box is different from the "About" in the sense that it allows to add much more information about your company.
Return on your page (when you are in the party administration, there is a button at the top right called "View Page"). If you have not already done so, add a photo and a profile cover picture (see image below).

4 - Leverage Facebook tools
Invite Friends
To help you with the installation and promotion of your page, Facebook shows you several quick links to get the most visibility. Through these links, you will be able to invite your Facebook friends, your professional and personal knowledge through email and even share the page on your profile.
You can also add a "Like" block (commonly referred Like Box) to your Facebook page on your personal web site from the section for developers.
5 - Share content to stay connected with your fans
You are at the stage of publishing content on your Facebook page. Ask yourself the question, how do I create interest for potential customers or for customers who already use our services? Some ideas:
- Share articles with links to your services or products. These articles that will interest your audience may have been originally published on another website as yours (eg La Presse, RDS, Web Guerilla).
- Share photos of your group outings with your employees to show another facet of your busniess.
- Create a contest.
- Share stories, funny situations that occurred in the office, etc.
- Share your new products.
- Interact with your customers by asking questions, conducting surveys to improve your customer service.
