How to increase google visits without ranker higher?
Articles and studies devoted to the position of a site in the SERP for a particular keyword, are legion. This is normal! If you propel your site on the first page of google you will be satisfied and you will increase your number of visits and sales.
It's even better if your site is positioned this time in first position on the first page. But without winning positions can also earn visits ...
Here is a method to better identify areas for improvement of the click rate.
CTR position and google.
Several studies have provided very useful statistics. It is interesting to know what percentage of users click on the first result of Google (and the following positions).
I think the CTR of positions 1 and 2 is a bit overrated. In fact many users do research using the company name. In this case the click rate is very high, but it is more "direct contact" as visits from natural search.
In my analysis I personally put a filter in google webmaster tools, I remove the name of the company and similar words, but I do not think that this filtering has been achieved in the studies cited above.
Comparison of actual CTR rates with theoretical or potential clicks.
You now know that if your keyword is in position 5 in the google page your CTR should be between 7 and 8. But is this really the case?
This is where the free tool google webmaster tools. This tool is very imperfect but increased in recent months positively.
Google webmaster tools for data analysis
I suggest you open the tool, and then click the search traffic tab and search queries. For a few months you can choose the period analyzed. You are still limited to 3 months. It's a shame!
For my part during a first analysis of a site I always choose the longest period possible, so 3 months. This gives you more keywords with a number of impressions and number of clicks important.
I limit, at least initially, my study to the keywords that have a higher number of impressions to 1000. Below, I consider (a non-scientific way) that the figures may not be significant.
Before turning to the use of this table I would draw your attention to the fact that the number of actual impressions is significantly higher than the number of prints "displayed". This is, of course, the same goes for the number of clicks. I have not managed to understand how Google made its choice, especially as the total value rate / value displayed varies according to the companies.
Keyword Analysis including CTR is low.
In the first category of cases is due to the low CTR. I'll take the "usual" if the key word "jaguar". If you have a blog talking about the jaguar (animal) and that you manage to position your blog on that keyword, CTR will be low because many surfers look for results on the car and do not click on your keyword.
This case is not anecdotal. For example you can find the same thing for the keyword tomato. Certain users will look for recipes using tomatoes, other information about the nutritional composition of tomato and finally others will be interested in the culture of tomato.
But you will see that often the CTR is low because the text presented by google does not "tilter" the user. It does not click on your proposal and chooses to click against the less well-positioned sites.
In general google displays the URL, the title tag and description tag. Sylvain showed in this excellent article that this is not always the case.
To have done this work on many sites I can assure you that the optimization of the description tag is used often to improve very substantially the CTR (and thus the number of visits and sales without changing the positioning).
If you do not believe too much in the optimization of the description tag, look at the tags for the sheets of major e-commerce sites!
There is a second kiss cool effect this optimization. If Google finds that the sites positioned after yours have better CTR, it will deduce that the proposal to users is not the most appropriate and will tend to demote you. If you now greatly improve your CTR you "may" also improve your positioning.
Improved ranking keywords good CTR.
This is not really the subject of this article, but you now have an interesting work to do for keywords that have a very good CTR (compared to google position)
You will, I am sure, in your table many keywords positioned for example at position 8 and whose CTR is 10% or more. Your keyword really like surfers, we must work his Registration.
Further analysis of google webmaster tools
I have presented here the overall picture. It is possible to go much further. So if you click on the keyword you have the list of pages on which it is positioned and the number of impressions and clicks by position.
The work also deserves to be directed by page and not by keywords. To do this you click on the tab popular pages and again the information given is extraordinary.
I proposed this product Sylvain because I know that his blog is followed by all the top names from the SEO. I have had good results with my method. I found nothing on the subject on the net. I'd love to have the maximum feedback to tell me if I "kidding," if you use this technique if you have solutions to improve it.
