This section discusses how I proceed to counter procrastination. It is a latent in me, as it probably is for most of us (I try to reassure myself here -))
The problem with procrastination is not that one is lazy, although it can give the impression. In fact, once gone on an activity that was feared to undertake is often difficult to stop! No, the real problem at the base is that it is certainly not able to start. And if you never start you never succeeds. It's as simple as that.

I'm not immune, for me as it is a battle every day. It is not natural for me either jumping for joy at the idea of performing tasks that bore me. The subject of personal finance is not a problem for me, because this is a subject that interests me particularly. I spend the time it takes when necessary. No, my problem is mainly the management of weekly tasks in all aspects home. As every point I abhor, I strive to counter. I never liked the role of victim; problems, I attack the front! Thinking to act instead of acting makes me crazy, I'm a woman of action even though I am far from being impulsive. My method to unlock my apathy and allow me to quickly engage my energy is simple and really effective.
Here in a nutshell: As with everything related to my life, I proceed by objectives but this time with a light shade; I proceed by mini-goals. The mini-goals are big goals. As we know, it is the small details that make the big picture, not the reverse!
I put myself as such purpose or that task with, above all, a maximum time limit of 20 minutes to get there. This is how I managed to meet my fitness goal. 20 minutes of exercise, and that's all. I actually started with $ 5 and 10 minutes. No possible equivocation, I set up my goal and I do it, and the results are paying off! 20 minutes is the maximum that I can spend, otherwise I do not have time to do everything. There are 24 hours in a day, and I spend some working in the office, others to sleep, relax, etc ... 20 minutes does not seem much but it's still 20 minutes of fact. And 6 days, it is 120 minutes, so 2 hours time! On Saturday, I do a lot of activities with the kids anyway.
For the year, it's easy. But for other activities? And if the task I gave myself taking more than 20 minutes? Well I give myself the same goal for the next day or even the next day, period! The fact is - I made progress today and that's the most important thing!
Mini goal can last 20 minutes, 10 minutes or even 5 minutes, the length really depends on the task at hand. However, I never exceeds 20 minutes for a given task. Drain and store a drawer takes 5 minutes, that's it, end of discussion. Spend three phone calls with three different companies to collect and take an estimated appointments (eg with a chimney sweep -)) takes 5 minutes to everything, watch in hand! It's amazing what you can do in 5 minutes!
If you do this every day - a little magic will happen. Eventually you will reach your goal step by step.
I use this method to all. Right now it is the garden, weeding, sweeping the entrance, mowing the lawn; the house is no exception, storing winter business, empty closets, wash and fold laundry, vacuuming, washing floors, replace the weather stripping and the door between the garage and home, etc ... and of course there are children in the middle of it, but I rather see this as a great source of motivation. I want them to see me active, I give the example. You should see how I cringe inside when I recognize my daughter in an attitude myself I had, vis-a-vis my homework among others. Of course I never told him but I know what to expect -)
You see, when we do things backwards, and is systematically menial or unpleasant tasks, it seems long. But if we say "Here, you have 10 minutes to do that lap top! "Time passes much more quickly, it is much nicer and more we are pleased with the work done at the end of course!
When a task is downright rude, like cleaning toilets, I use five minutes, it's crazy that it motivates me! No rush, I succeed very well, and with practice I'm getting more and more efficiently!
I work with several activities in parallel; I can for example start the dishwasher and let plan to fold linger, and to return. Whatever, the point is that it's done! It made my ex crazy to see that I dropped one activity for another, at least in appearance. Rather, it is the other school that is to finish what is started (well ... at least in terms of dishes; -))
If you recognize yourself in some of the examples I have provided to you, I hope you will apply this small technical mini-goals. It is not rocket science, and it's very effective. Encouragement you will reap, seeing you closer to your goal, will generate even more motivation which in turn will fuel more your mill!
This method will open the doors of self-discipline. If you apply it * now * you will see quickly what I mean tomorrow. Self-discipline is the sworn enemy of procrastination. In personal finance, self-discipline is master, it is the principle which we will not yield under the impulse of instant gratification, it is so that it can manage its finances , go out or not to go into debt.
Cultivate self-discipline and you will be all the better, a grown and responsible person, a person in control of its business, its future and life in general. I hope I have convinced you and you will undertake the necessary steps to get there.
